1. In Malacca covers an area of forest harvesting Permanent Reserved Forests, Land and Land governments. For Permanent Reserved Forest area only to be classified as Forest Wood Production Under Sustainable Procurement under Section 10 (1) of the National Forestry Act 1984 (Amendment 1993) can be harvested while the area is forest cover otherwise can not be modified, namely those classified as follows: -

  •  Forest Flood
  •  Water Catchment Forest
  •  Forest Wildlife
  •  Virgin Jungle Reserve forest
  •  Recreational Forest
  •  Forest Education
  •  Forest Research
  •  Forest For the purposes of the Federation
  •  Forest Land Protection

2. Harvesting, especially in the area of Permanent Reserved Forests need to follow some guidelines that have been set, the guidelines that are currently available are: -

  • Forest Road Specifications
  • Forest Harvesting Guidelines
  • Mechanized Logging Guidelines
  • Guidelines, the Guidelines issued by the ITTO (International Tropical Timber Organization), namely: -

             a) ITTO Guidelines For The Sustainable Management of Natural Tropical Forests

             b) ITTO Guidelines On The Conservation of Biological Diversity In Production Forests
